Another win for Nefyn making it 5 out of 5. A number of changes again tonight due to injuries and 1st team call ups.
Nefyn started sluggish and struggled to put any good football together in the first quarter. It was no surprise that Harlech took the lead on 14 minutes following a good move down the right which resulted in a powerful header by the Harlech centre forward to make it 1-0.
Nefyn then woke up and started to put some decent football together which resulted in chances being created. On 33 minutes Nefyn were awarded a free kick 20 yards out and Gareth powered home into the top corner. On 35 minutes Nefyn were awarded a penalty when Brian was brough down and he put the penalty away. Nefyn were now well on top and on 41 minutes a move down the left resulted in Gareth crossing for young Meurig Price (making his full debut) powered in a header at the far post. Score half time 3-1.
Again Nefyn started the half poorly with passes going astray. However on 50 minutes the ball fell to Brian and he finished from 10 yards for his second of the match. The match was then over and Nefyn made changes. Further chances were created but in truth the final ball more often than not lacked the required quality.
Although Harlech are struggling in the league and have yet to win a game, they did posses 3 or 4 good players and they did threaten the Nefyn goal on numerous occasions without testing Dylan too much.
On 83 minutes Nefyn were awarded a free kick 30 yards out and Gareth stepped up again and drilled the ball home into the top corner to make it 5-1, an excellent strike that gave the keeper no chance. Only a couple of minutes later though a cross from the left resulted in a second goal for Harlech, an excellent header by Gwion Roberts which gave Dylan no chance.
No further chances were created by either side, result 5-2 to Nefyn.
It is pleasing to win the first 5 games of the season (especially considering last years results), but it is evident that a lot of work is required and further strengthening of the squad if we are to challenge for the league.
Well done to all who has been involved to date.
